From the 2001 film 'The Royal Tenenbaums', directed by Wes Anderson and starring: Gene Hackman, Angelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, and Danny Glover.
The title of this blog comes from the play that Margot Tenenbaum (Paltrow) writes at the end of the film.  "It closed after two weeks."  In this blog, I hope to help aid my students as they chronicle their exploration in the field of AMST72, Introduction to 20th Century American Culture.  I thought a random line from a film with moderate commercial success (but a large cult following) would help underscore this class's emphasis on looking at American culture from different angles, taking a critical approach to popular culture, and ultimately coming away with a deeper, if more cynical, appreciation for what the US has created in the past 100+ years.
